This may be a new Halloween tradition to christen the decorations in blood. We will see.

Rachael Cut Off Her Finger
It's not technically in the proper location to merit inclusion on this illustrious blog. However, it's not every day a coworker chops through their finger to the bone.

Judy cut off her finger!
Judy got into work at 6:45 am to work on a new business proposal that was due by noon that day.
As she was cutting a part of a design out -- while being told to hurry up by the account team -- she looked up and missed the paper. Instead, the exacto knife went straight into her finger (OUCH!). Judy ran to get tissue to stop the bleeding and continued to work as she bled through several tissues. She's a trooper.
A first aid kit was brought and Judy bandaged her finger which continued to bleed. Finally, at 1:30pm she left the office. By 5pm it was still bleeding. By the time this photo was taken it doesn't look so bad, but this was a serious gusher.
She went to urgent care where they told her the knife went in at exactly the right angle that she didn’t need stitches. Hooray.
And now she's yet another victim of the Alison Cut Off Her Finger Blog.

Erin Cut Off Her Finger
Erin's finger story:
It seemed like just another ordinary Wednesday when I received the call. The Dallas office needed images of the new brochure in order to post it to a materials-ordering website. I, Erin Bray, was the only person who could save my fellow U.S. citizens (and residents of certain U.S. territories) from the devastating possibility of a world without free materials.
It was all in my hands. LITERALLY.
I flew to the mailroom to package up the CDs. I grabbed the packing tape gun, and as I frantically tore the tape, I skimmed my left index finger along the jagged cutting edge – producing the grotesque flesh wound you see here.
To further illustrate how much I am willing to sacrifice to ensure that our nation has all the free pamphlets they could possibly need: I am left-handed. Heroic is a word that springs to mind as I site here reflecting on my efforts. But I hate to brag.

Two more people cut their finger tips off!
There's been some further development in the Alison Cut Off Her Finger saga...in the last week, two more of my coworkers have cut off their fingertips in the same precise location as Alison.
From Delia on Saturday:
"Last night, as I was sawing off the head of a dark chocolate Easter bunny (to make s'mores with PEEPS and graham crackers), I SLICED OFF PART OF MY FINGER. After the bleeding subsided, I realized that it was SAME finger that Alison cut off. Similar to Alison, I did not have the foresight to save the sliver of my detached finger, but luckily the damage was minimal."
From IMing with David on Monday:
David IM: i sliced a little of my finger off this weekend.
David IM: just the tip.
AlisonCutOffHerFingerBlog IM: are you f-ing serious?
David IM: well, I mean, just a wee bit.
AlisonCutOffHerFingerBlog: Delia did exactly the same thing this weekend
David IM: but, given recent events, thought I'd mention
AlisonCutOffHerFingerBlog IM: I think all of us who laughed at her are getting some wicked bad karma
AlisonCutOffHerFingerBlog IM: (meaning, I better watch out, because I was the one that started a blog and got it in the newspaper)
If you laughed, you better be extra careful around knives!

Back from the doctor
"It’s difficult, but I’m managing. I can draw you a picture in Paint so you know what my finger (or the remaining portion of it) looks like. It’s pretty gross."
Ouch!
Alison cut off a small part of her finger (cutting cucumbers this morning, very dangerous) and is currently headed to Urgent Care. She’ll be back in the office after some antiseptic and bandages.
